Moving in Woollahra: your questions

No. The visitor permit doesn’t cover a vehicle heavier than 3 tonnes (Woollahra Council, parking permit conditions), and our smallest truck is a 4 tonne. So we look for a lawful spot close to your terrace or building: your driveway or garage if there’s room, a loading zone, which allows 30 minutes, or an unrestricted space in the street nearby.
Not with a Works Zone. Woollahra Council’s Works Zone conditions say the zones are “provided to facilitate the efficient operation of construction projects”, and approval can take up to eight weeks. For a move, we plan around what the street signs already allow, such as loading zones and unrestricted spaces, then quote hours that include the walk from the truck.
Yes. If a bed frame, table or wardrobe won’t make a tight turn, the crew takes it apart and rebuilds it upstairs. In the 2021 Census, 31.1% of Woollahra homes were attached semis, terraces or townhouses (ABS), so we ask about stairs and doorways at the quote, because they change the hours. Measure the tightest turn first if you can.
Yes. Edgecliff sits inside the Woollahra Council boundary (Woollahra Council ward map), so the truck’s parking follows Woollahra’s rules. In the 2021 Census, Edgecliff counted 69.9% of its homes as flats or apartments (ABS). Book the lift under your building’s by-laws, give us the booked time, and we’ll plan the truck and crew around it.
Only north of Oxford Street. Woollahra Council’s official 2024 wards map puts that side in Woollahra, and the south side belongs to the City of Sydney. There, an eligible household’s visitor permit can cover a removalist’s truck (City of Sydney), which Woollahra’s 3-tonne limit rules out. So we plan each end of the move under its own council’s rules.
